This evergreen shrub blooms a showy yellow in fall; they typically begin to flower in September and can continue until first frost. The flowers attract a variety of pollinators, mainly bees and butterflies. If left to go to seed, you will have numerous volunteers; they can be deadhead to avoid the prolific self-seeding.

It naturally occurs in beach dunes and sandhill communities that remain dry or are well-draining. They act as a soil stabilizer. They are endemic to the Florida Panhandle. (1)
