AKA: Seven Sisters, String Lily

This flower grows great in wet gardens, marshes, swamps, along ditches and streams. It can bloom any time of year, most often in spring in north FL and can be evergreen if the winter is particularly mild. It has interesting shaped white flowers that are fragrant and can be used as a cut flower in bouquets. It will spread by division of bulbs and by seeds, and is pollinated by sphinx moths, and is the larval host for Spanish moth a.k.a. convict caterpillar (Xanthopastis timais).

Historically it was used as a violent emetic, by grinding the bulb up and mixing it with bitter gum resin.
