Scarlet Sage is a showy bloomer that has long spikes of red flowers during any time of the year that its warm enough. It re-seeds and/or comes back from root stock (as long as we don’t get snow). To maximize flowering and prevent overgrowth, you can prune it back periodically; it makes a decent cut flower, so throw the pruned bits into a vase for a few days of color inside. Many pollinators are attracted to it, including butterflies and hummingbirds.

It is not an edible sage.
