Blooms spring-late fall. This is a perennial; individual plants are short lived but they frequently self-seed or come back from root stock. Prized for the fragrant and red blooms; during peak bloom, a single plant may produce 100 or more flowers. It is the only Florida calamint that has red blooms; they are also the largest flower. Attracts pollinators like butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. It can be evergreen or decidious based on weather and location.
