This monarch-friendly flower blooms in the summer with pink and white flowers. It’s winter dormant but will come back in the spring to bloom in the summer with white and pink flowers. It does not require pruning. This species can be difficult to transplant once it’s established due to its long taproot. Pinewood Milkweed is a larval host to the Monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus), Queen butterfly (Danaus gilippus), and others. It also attracts native bees.
