Small, white flowers are attractive to native bees. The seeds are eaten by songbirds, quail, and other wildlife. It is a larval host plant for the Zarucco duskywing skipper (Erynnis zarucco) butterfly. A legume, it helps fix nitrogen in the soil which improves overall soil quality.
