These flowers bloom from late summer to early fall in bright purple. In the winter they are basal rosettes. They readily self-seed, so seed pods need to be pinched if you want to avoid that. They are drought tolerant once established. It attracts many bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, including the native bee species Halictus ligatus.
