It blooms from early summer to late fall with long clumps of bright yellow flowers. This goldenrod species does not spread as quickly as many others although it may spread by rhizomes in perfect conditions. It attracts long and short tongued bees, Sphecid and Vespid wasps, flies, butterflies, moths and beetles. Solidagos make a good cut flower.
Still used as an incense by the Navajo. It also has medicinal uses including using flowers as a fever treatment, decoction of roots for kidney treatment.
