This consistently blooming yellow flower is a perennial unless a hard freeze occurs, then this plant becomes an annual. Grows via spreading and aggressively self-seeding. Likes it dry, over watering can slow its growth down. Attracts many pollinators nearly year round, and the seeds are eaten by birds and small mammals. Dune sunflowers make a good cut flower and preserve well when dried or pressed.
