This deciduous tree has an orange fall color and blooms in early spring with delicate white and pink blossoms. It fruits in late summer into the early fall with edible yellow fruits. The fruits can be used to make jelly, or are enjoyable sliced and dried. It attracts many birds and small mammals with the fruits, and is pollinated by bees. The tree itself grows best if it has good air circulation. It is currently listed as threatened by the FDAC.
