Red Buckeyes are a deciduous tree with red blooms in early spring. It has an orange fall color and drops its leaves earlier than other deciduous trees. It is healthy to prune it in late winter to help encourage a strong structure and blooming. The flowers attract hummingbirds with it’s tube shaped flowers.

Soap can be obtained from the roots. Poultice of the nuts was made for tumors and sores by the Cherokee. Its leaves are nice for pressing.
