Sweet Goldenrod blooms from late summer to fall with sprays of yellow flowers. It spreads quickly by rhizomes. It attracts many different bees, butterflies, and some beetles. Solidagos make good cut flowers.

The leaves have a licorice scent when crushed and can be used to make a tea. Gather the leaves and dry them at low heat for a long time. You can also use the flowers if you harvest them when they’re fully open and then dried. Cherokee used it to treat colds, coughs, diarrhea, fevers, sores, nerves, and tuberculosis.
