This coneflower blooms from late summer to early fall, with yellow flowers. It attracts many species of native bees, butterflies, skippers, flies, and beetles. Birds like to visit to eat the seeds in the dried seed heads. It can be cut back in winter, but doesn’t need to be. It colonizes with rhizomes. It makes a good cut flower, and dries well.

A tea can be made from the roots that is beneficial for the immune system.
