This easy-to-spread flower blooms in the summer with its purple flowers. It is a larval host for the common buckeye and attracts many native bees for pollination. Recommended use as a groundcover because of its prolific re-seeding. It may need supplemental watering during excessive dry periods to retain in the landscape. It is the larval host plant for common buckeye (Junonia coenia) butterflies.
